Salon POS and Payment Processing with SHIFT
Stripe-powered payments that capture automatically when the work is done. No invoicing. No chasing clients.
Last updated: April 13, 2026
SHIFT processes payments through Stripe Connect with support for credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and cash. When a provider marks an appointment complete, payment captures automatically. There is no separate invoicing step.
Every transaction is recorded in a double-entry financial ledger backed by PostgreSQL with immutability triggers. This is the same accounting standard used by banks. Your daily revenue, tips, processing fees, and platform fees are tracked with penny-level accuracy.
The tiered platform fee structure charges 3% on the Starter plan and 2.5% on Pro, in addition to standard Stripe processing fees (2.9% + $0.30). There is no monthly platform percentage — you keep what you earn minus transparent per-transaction fees.

How does automatic payment capture work?
When a provider taps "Complete" on an appointment, SHIFT triggers payment capture through Stripe. The client's pre-authorized card is charged for the service amount plus any add-ons or products. Tips are collected in the same transaction.
For walk-in clients paying at checkout, SHIFT processes the payment in a single step. Cash payments are recorded in the system and flow through the same financial ledger as card transactions, so all revenue is tracked in one place.
What makes the financial ledger different from other platforms?
Most scheduling platforms generate financial reports by querying their payment processor. The numbers are directional approximations. SHIFT maintains its own double-entry ledger — every transaction is recorded as a set of debits and credits across a proper chart of accounts.
PostgreSQL immutability triggers prevent modification of financial records after they are written. Nightly reconciliation jobs verify that the internal ledger and Stripe agree to the penny. This gives you bank-grade financial accuracy for tax reporting and business decisions.
How does pricing and fee transparency work?
SHIFT has no monthly platform percentage. Per-transaction fees are tiered by plan: 3% on Starter, 2.5% on Pro, in addition to standard Stripe fees (2.9% + $0.30). Every transaction shows a complete fee waterfall breaking down service revenue, platform fee, processing fee, tip, and net payout.
When a client receives a refund, SHIFT credits the platform fee back to the provider. You never pay a platform fee on refunded transactions. The fee breakdown is visible in real time on every transaction in your dashboard.
